Guide

The best sports team management apps in the UK (2026)

Choosing an app for a UK club comes down to what you need to manage: one team’s availability and match fees, or a whole club’s members, subs, coaches and kit. We compared the apps UK clubs use most, and every fact about each app comes from that app’s own website or help centre.

Medalyst is one of the apps on this list, and we wrote this guide. To keep it fair, every claim about another app is limited to what that app’s own pages say, and each app gets a clear “best for” so you can see where it fits better than we do.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on what your club needs to manage. For a single team, Spond and Heja are strong free choices, and Pitchero fits clubs that want their website and team app together. For clubs that coordinate several teams and want subs with automatic reminders, written player feedback and equipment inventory in one app, Medalyst is built for that.

Spond is free to use and earns a fee when a club collects money. SportMember’s Basic plan is free per member, Heja has an ad-supported free version, TeamApp is free and funded by in-app advertising, and Pitchero has a free plan for a single team. Medalyst’s mobile app has free core features, with the club plan priced per athlete.

Teamer closes on Monday 5 October 2026 and offers its users a migration deal to join its sister product, Pitchero. Medalyst is another option for clubs that coordinate several teams: we set up the whole club within a couple of hours. Whichever you choose, save your member list and upcoming fixtures from Teamer before it closes.

Medalyst sends automatic reminders before fees fall due, SportMember sends automatic requests and reminders, ClubZap sends weekly renewal emails, Pitchero sends a reminder after 72 hours, and Heja sends one on the due date. In Spond and TeamSnap, reminders are a manual step for an admin.

According to each app’s own pages, Medalyst stores data on European servers, Spond keeps its data in Dublin and Frankfurt, SportMember stores data in the EU, ClubZap keeps personal data within the EEA, and Heja processes data within the EU/EEA. Pitchero uses AWS in Ireland and the USA, and TeamSnap and TeamApp rely on providers in the United States.

Yes. In Medalyst, coaches write a short report for each athlete after training in the mobile app, and the athlete and their parents read it on their own phone. TeamSnap offers athlete evaluations through its SkillShark integration, and the other apps in this guide cover match results, player stats or votes.
